The sapwood of the American walnut is creamy white, while the heartwood is light brown, dark brown, and purplish. It usually has straight veins, but sometimes it can also have wavy and curved decorative veins. American walnut is of medium hardness and firm structure. It is resistant to bending and crushing. It has very little outdoor use, but works little in dry conditions and is very durable. Since it is a tree that can be processed easily and easily, it gives successful results in hand and machine tools, carving and turning works. It has good nailing, screwing, polishing and gluing properties. It can be used as solid and veneer.
